Hi There, I'm Robin

My Photo I'm a writer and designer of board games, card games, and video games.

About Me

I'm a former school teacher, now based in Dublin, Ireland. I have been designing board and card games for several years, and in the past year, have made an effort to publish my games. I've been experimenting with digital downloads, print on demand titles, and crowdfunded projects. I'm always interested in discussing games and developing new titles through collaboration. Drop me a message or find me on Twitter!

Buy Games

Both The Martian Investigations and Sub Rosa: Spies for Hire are currently available in print format.

Sub Rosa: Spies for Hire

Sub Rosa: Spies for Hire is a microgame of bluffing and bidding. Players act as the directors of rival spy agencies, trying to recruit the most mercenary agents to their side. Sub Rosa was successfully funded on Kickstarter and is now in the manufacturing process.

The Martian Investigations: Deep Fears

The Martian Investigations: Deep Fears continues the story of the popular Death on the Rust Planet. In Deep Fears, Detective Hayley Bendis must investigate a suspicious explosion that claimed several lives deep in the mines of Mars. Just like in it's predecessor, players are given complete agency over the story - they can go wherever they want and speak to whoever they wish, as they try to get to the bottom of the case. Deep Fears is available for sale on Payhip. It can also be bought as a multi-pack, with Case 1, here.

The Martian Investigations

The Martian Investigations: Death on the Rust Planet is a narrative-deduction game - a kind of choose your own adventure game for adults, in which players are given total freedom about how they wish to approach the given story. In Death on the Rust Planet, you take the role of Detective Hayley Bendis, who has been sent to a mining colony on the surface of Mars in order to solve a series of grisly murders. The game can either be played both on a screen or printed out on paper. Death on a Rust Planet is currently for sale on PayHip.

Movable Type: A Word-Building Game

Movable Type (formerly, Litterateur) is a word-building card-drafting game with a bookish theme. You can think of it as Scrabble mixed with Sushi Go, but with an unusual victory mechanic that delights players and ensures that everyone is invested until the final word is played. I am currently seeking a publisher for Litterateur. You can find a print-and-play version of it, here.

Director's Cut: The Card Game

Director's Cut: The Card Game is a set collection and trading game for two players, set in the Hollywood studios of the early 20th Century. It uses a tricky market mechanic which rewards players who take risks and time their moves well. The artwork is all authentic promotional material (public domain) for classic movies. The game is available to buy on DriveThruCards.

Eccentric Exhibits

Eccentric Exhibits is a free, 20-card trick-taking game for 2-players. Each player is a curator at a rival museum, attempting to win the best artifacts for their collection. You can get the free Print-n-Play here.
